All supplies and orders for supplies are due by the end of the day on Friday, 8/30/13. All band students need: 1 Composition Notebook, 1 Binder, 10 to 15 sheet protectors, 1 Combination Lock for band locker, Measures of Success Band Book (available on order form), a Band T-Shirt (available on order form), and SmartMusic (available on order form).
Measures of Success Band Books, SmartMusic, Band T-Shirts and a variety of other supplies can be ordered with the Band Supply Order Form. Additional supplies can be ordered online.
Students that do not place an order for a Measures of Success Book and SmartMusic will not be able to complete assignments and assessments.Thank you for your consideration by placing your orders before the deadline!
Parents of students that need a band instrument or band supplies for the new school year should plan to attend the Instrument Rental Night Meeting on Wednesday, September 4th anytime between 5:30pm and 8:30pm (the same night as Parent University and Open House). Representatives from Music & Arts will be providing instrument rental services and Mr. Hall will be available to answer questions.

Welcome back to school Grady Gators! Attached to this post are the handouts that went home with the band students on the 1st day of school. Please review the attached information and return the necessary forms. Students need to have all of the required supplies by the end of this week (8/30/13).
A few supply notes... all band students need a band t-shirt (same design as last year), SmartMusic (new for this year), a composition notebook (new for this year), and a 3 Ring Binder with sheet protectors (same as last year). Students may use a band locker when they bring a high quality COMBINATION Lock to school. Combination Locks can be purchased at the school store, online, or at just about any superstore or office supply store. Key locks are not permitted for use on band lockers.
Today (8/25/13) is the 20th Annual Houston Theater District Open House. This is a great even to experience free performances, behind-the-scenes backstage tours, and an instrument petting zoo by the Alley Theatre, Gexa Energy Broadway at the Hobby Center, Da Camera of Houston, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, Society for the Performing Arts, Theatre Under The Stars, Uniquely Houston, and the Houston Symphony! Complimentary trolly rides will be provided between the major performing venues. A full scheduled of events is posted online. The grand finale will be a free performance by the Houston Symphony at 4pm in Jones Hall.

Parents looking to obtain a high quality instrument that meets the specifications set by Mr. Hall may rent one at the the Instrument Rental Night at Grady Middle School on Thursday, August 22nd, 5:30pm - 8:30pm. The program is being offered by Music & Arts.
Parents of Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Band students should plan to attend the 8/22 meeting to purchase the required band supplies. All band students will need to purchase a Band Book (Measures of Success), SmartMusic, and a Band T-Shirt. SmartMusic and the Band T-Shirt are available for order from the Grady Middle School PTO. Please complete the attached order form and return it to Mr. Hall with your payment. For your convenience, you may also rent your band instrument online with Music & Arts.
Band instrument rentals and supply sales will begin at 5:30pm and in the Grady Middle School Commons. The Instrument Rental Night will conclude at 8:30pm. This program is offered as a convenience to the parents. Parents are under no obligation to rent from any specific vendor.

New band students will select their band instrument with Mr. Hall during Gator Camp on 8/13 & 8/14.
Be sure to stop by the PTO Store to order your band supplies. All band students are required to have a band t-shirt, SmartMusic, a band book (Measures of Success), and miscellaneous other supplies necessary for your instrument. These supplies will be available for order through the PTO on 8/13 and 8/14.
Instrument Rental Night is 8/22 at 5:30pm. You can also order your rental instrument with Music and Arts Online. For your convenience, rental instruments can be delivered directly to Grady Middle School.

Mr. Hall is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. He has taught music for 17 years in the states of Illinois, Indiana, California, and Texas, and he has been the Director of Bands at Tanglewood Middle School since the fall of 2010.
